Mermaid Free Knitting Pattern by Chris Collins.
This is an easy pattern. I used Acrylic yarn. You can use sport or even bulky for this pattern. Your mermaid will turn out bigger but it will still work. I recommend using a size 3-5 US needle for worsted and a US 9 for bulky.
