Heart in a Granny Square Crochet Free Step by Step Tutorial.
Beautiful heart in a granny square to create, this would make for a beautiful baby blanket, I can just imagine it in pinks, blue, greens and baby pastels. I created this sample with 8 ply cotton and a D hook, but I like my crochet very tight, you may use a larger hook too.
Round 1: Begin with Chain 7 and slip stitch closed to make a loop
Round 2: Chain 3 ( counts as first dc), dc 17 times and slip stitch closed.
Round 3: Chain 1, sc into the next stitch two times, (dc into next stitch, dc into next stitch two times) x 8, dc into next stitch, sc into the next stitch two times, slip stitch end round.
Round 4: Chain 1, sc into the next stitch two times, dc into next stitch, (dc into next stitch two times) x 4, dc into next stitch, sc into the next 5 stitches, (dc into next stitch two times) x 2, then dc, tr, dc into the next stitch, (dc into next stitch two times) x 2, sc into the next 5 stitches, dc into next stitch, (dc into next stitch two times) x 4, dc into next stitch, sc into the next stitch two times, slip stitch end round. Cut yarn off.
Round 5: We are going to turn the work around and join in the next color yarn to the opposite end at the tr from the previous round. Chain 1 and sc int the first stitch, sc into every stitch all the way around, ending with a sc into the first tr from the previous round then slip stitch closed.
Round 6: Chain 1, sc into next st, sc into next st, dc next st, dc into next st, tr into next st, into next stitch we are going to dtr, ch1 and dtr; tr into next st, dc into next st, dc into next st, sc into the next 6 stitches, dc into next st, dc into next st, into next stitch we are going to tr, ch1 and tr; dc into next st, sc into the next 3 stitches, dc into the next 3 stitches, sc into the next 3 stitches, dc into next st, into next stitch we are going to tr, ch1 and tr; dc into next st, dc into next st, sc into the next 6 stitches, dc into next st, dc into next st, tr into next st, into next stitch we are going to dtr, ch1 and dtr; tr into next st, dc into next st, dc into next st, sc into next st, sc into next st, then slip stitch closed. Cut yarn off.
Round 7: Join new yarn color to the bottom right corner of the square in the chain between the dtr in the previous round. Chain 2 and sc into the first st, sc into the next 13 stitches, then sc, chain 1, sc (corner of the square), repeat around and slip stitch closed.
