Materials:
Yarn: TLC® “Essentials™”: 7 skeins 2820 Robin Egg.
Knitting Needles: 5mm [US 8] – 40″.
Cable needle, yarn needle.
GAUGE: 20 sts = 4″; 24 rows = 4″ in Bramble Stitch. CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size needles to obtain the specified gauge.
ABBREVIATIONS: dec = decrease; inc = increase;
K = knit; mm = millimeters; P = purl; St st = Stockinette
stitch (Knit on right side rows; Purl on wrong side rows.);
st(s) = stitch(es); tog = together; * or ** = repeat whatever
follows the * or ** as indicated; [ ] = work directions in
brackets the number of times specified.
Afghan is 51½” x 69″.
Special Stitch:
BRAMBLE STITCH (multiple of 4 sts)
Row 1 (RS): P.
Row 2: * P3tog, (K1, P1, K1) in same st; repeat from *.
Row 3: P.
Row 4: * (K1, P1, K1) in same st, P3tog; repeat from *.
Repeat Rows 1-4 for pattern.
CABLE PANEL (worked over 19 sts)
Row 1 (RS): K6, P3, K1, P3, K6.
Row 2 and all WS rows: P6, K3, P1, K3, P6.
Row 3: Slip 3 sts to cable needle and hold in front, K3, K3
from cable needle, P3, K1, P3, slip 3 sts to cable needle
and hold in front, K3, K3 from cable needle.
Row 5: Repeat Row 1.
Row 6: Repeat Row 2.
Repeat Rows 1-6 for Cable Panel.
NOTE: Afghan is worked back and forth in rows. Circular
needle is used to accommodate the large number of
stitches.
